KUALA LUMPUR (July 18): Loss-making logging company BTM Resources Bhd has appointed Tan Boon Pock as an executive director, effective Tuesday (July 18).

Tan, 58, is the managing director of Fortune Family Office Sdn Bhd, which is involved in setting up family offices for high-net-worth individuals and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and focusing on personal, family, and business financial advisory.

He is also a director of renewable energy and green energy business company Bio Dinamik Sdn Bhd, said BTM in a bourse filing.

The group said Tan is one of the stakeholders of ING Fund in Malaysia, and has won numerous awards from his previous companies including ING Group and Aetna Financial Group for the past 15 years.

“He [Tan] worked with Aetna and ING for more than 25 years by practising his experience in areas of financial planning, investments, advisory in personal and family wealth planning as well as business financial advisory services,” it said.

Tan is also the founder of the National Entrepreneur Convention since 2003, and is actively involved in organising talks and seminars to educate SMEs and business owners in financial planning.

BTM has seen various shareholding changes in the group recently, including the emergence of KPS Consortium Bhd controlling shareholder Koh Poh Seng and Bioalpha Holdings Bhd founder William Hon as substantial shareholders.

Meanwhile, the group saw the cessation of four other substantial shareholders, namely Proven Venture Capital Plt, its executive director Datuk Woo Thin Choy, director Yong Emmy and Modern Mode Sdn Bhd.

Shares in BTM ended half a sen or 5% lower at 9.5 sen on Tuesday, giving the group a market capitalisation of RM119.37 million.
