KUALA LUMPUR (July 20): Swift Haulage Bhd said its associate company, Hypercold Logistics Sdn Bhd, launched the largest cold chain hub in Kota Kinabalu on Thursday (July 20) to serve a wider coverage area in Sabah.

The hub is strategically located in the Kota Kinabalu Industrial Park, and will serve Kota Kinabalu, Sandakan, Lahad Datu, Tawau, Labuan, Beaufort, Sipitang, Tenom, Keningau, and Kudat, said the leading haulier and integrated logistics service provider.

"When the expansion is fully completed in November 2023, the hub will have a capacity of 6,389 pallets — making it the largest in Sabah," said Swift in a statement.

The expansion in capacity will also be supported by a fleet of temperature-controlled trucks that will be fully equipped with GPS and temperature tracking that are capable of providing cross-border services, the group said.

Hypercold Logistics was incorporated in 2006 and is involved in the provision of cold chain-related logistics, warehouse storage and transportation of goods. It has 2,889 pallets of cold room facilities.

“We are excited about Sabah’s potential to become the leading choice as the central hub for cold-chain logistics in the Brunei Darussalam-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East Asean Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA) region," said Swifte’s group chief executive officer Loo Yong Hui at the launch of the hub.

“Sabah’s strategic location significantly facilitates the smooth flow of goods and services within the BIMP-EAGA region, providing us with a unique advantage in offering efficient and cost-effective logistics solutions,”

Swift’s shares gained one sen or 2.11% to 48.5 sen, valuing the group at RM427.06 million.
