KUALA TERENGGANU (Aug 16): Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar on Wednesday (Aug 16) announced the list of 11 portfolios for the state executive councillors.
Ahmad Samsuri said several changes and adjustments were made to the state portfolios, as compared to the last term, for the purpose of improving and facilitating work with ministries at the federal level.
"We hope all the councillors will move faster and carry out their duties with full dedication for the progress of the people and the state of Terengganu," he said after chairing the state executive council’s maiden meeting at Wisma Darul Iman here.
Ahmad Samsuri, who is the Ru Rendang assemblyman, himself is the chairman of the Economy, Finance, Investment, Land and Natural Resources Committee, while Paka assemblyman Datuk Satiful Bahari Mamat was appointed as the chairman of the Education, Higher Education, Science, Technology and Human Development Committee.
Wakaf Mempelam assemblyman Wan Sukairi Wan Abdullah was assigned the health, housing and local government portfolio, while Jabi assemblyman Dr Azman Ibrahim maintained his agriculture, agro-based industry, food security and commodities portfolio.
Kota Putera assemblyman Mohd Khuzaini Abd Rahman, who previously held the entrepreneurship portfolio, was appointed as the Digital Economy, New Income, Trade, Industry and Green Technology Committee chairman, while Chukai assemblyman Hanafiah Mat was assigned the infrastructure, utilities and rural development portfolio.
Alor Limbat assemblyman Ariffin Deraman, who previously held the tourism portfolio, was moved to the entrepreneurship, human resources, cooperatives and consumer affairs portfolio.
There are also four new faces on the state executive council, namely Kijal assemblyman Datuk Razali Idris (tourism, culture and environment), who is from Bersatu instead of PAS in the Perikatan Nasional coalition, Batu Buruk assemblyman Muhammad Khalil Abdul Hadi (information, dakwah and shariah empowerment), Tepoh assemblyman Hishamuddin Abdul Karim (youth, sports and non-governmental organisation development), and Ajil assemblyman Maliaman Kassim (welfare, women, family development and national unity).
