Fire Broke Out at Frontken’s Kulim Unit on Sunday; No Injuries Reported

KUALA LUMPUR (May 13): Frontken Corp Bhd (KL:FRONTKN) said a fire broke out at one of its facilities on Sunday (May 12) but was brought under control soon after, with no casualties reported.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia on Monday, the semiconductor support services firm said the fire broke out at the plant of Frontken Malaysia Sdn Bhd (FMSB) at around 2.45pm. The fire department is currently investigating the incident to ascertain the cause of the fire.

“The impact of the fire was minimal and our alternative facility qualified by our customers will be able to support the works undertaken by the affected unit,” it said.

"To that end, the financial impact to the group as a result of the fire, if any, will be minimal. All assets of FMSB and consequential losses including loss of income, if any, are adequately covered by insurance," it added.

Shares of Frontken extended gains to a new record high of RM4.25 at the closing bell on Monday, after rising eight sen or 1.92%, with 3.22 million shares traded. The counter has gained 33.23% since the beginning of this year.
