Asian stock markets advanced on Tuesday led by Hong Kong’s HSI (+2.36%). The local benchmark FBMKLCI (KLCI) added 3.97pts or 0.26% to end the day at 1,547.99. Most of the sectors closed in positive territory with healthcare (+1.52%) leading the gainers followed by FBMACE (+0.93%) and consumer products (+0.78%). Laggards include property (-0.38%), utilities (-0.19%) and construction (-0.13%). Trading volume surged to 4.53bn (up from 3.18bn on Monday) while trading value climbed to RM2.82bn (up from RM2.13bn previously). Market breadth stayed positive as 597 gainers beat 516 decliners.

The benchmark formed a third consecutive white candle as the KLCI is now testing the top end of the triangle consolidation pattern. With the 1,550 psychological resistance just overhead, we may see a small pull back in the coming sessions. The current consolidation (in a triangle pattern) above the 50-day EMA is likely to continue for now. Once this consolidation ends, we expect the KLCI to break out of its consolidation to test the next resistance at 1,570-1,583. Support is seen at 1,525-1,531 followed by the critical support at 1,508-1,521. Our portfolio stays in *risk-on mode* this week.
