Asian stocks market finished mixed on Tuesday ahead of Labour Day. The local benchmark FBMKLCI (KLCI) dropped 6.69pts or 0.42% to end the day at 1,575.97. It was a mixed bag for the sectors with the largest gains coming from transportation (+1.26%), telecommunications (+0.47%) and construction (+0.39%). On the flip note, utilities (-0.68%), energy (-0.49%) and financial services (-0.34%) were the top laggards. Trading volume reduced to 4.18bn (down from 4.24bn on Monday) but trading value continued to rise to RM3.75bn (up from RM3.48bn previously). Market breadth was neutral as 524 gainers marginally beat 521 decliners.

The benchmark retraced from its 23-month high as profit-taking activities kicked in ahead of Labour holiday. The 1,570-1,583 range remains as the immediate resistance until the index can successfully close above the said levels. The 1,600 psychological level is the next resistance. Any pullback should find support near the 1,552-1,559 levels to keep the bullish momentum intact. The rising 50-day EMA (1,543 currently) is the following support. Our portfolio stays in *risk-on mode* this week.
