Over the past day, the highest-trending question asked related to Covid-19 news on Google Search was "How close are we to a Covid-19 vaccine?"

The following are the highest-trending Covid-19 questions worldwide (excluding the United States) that were asked in Google Search over the last 24 hours.

How close are we to a Covid-19 vaccine? Will there be a vaccine for Covid-19?

A vaccine for Covid-19 is currently in the works; when exactly it will be ready for public deployment, however, is yet to be determined. On the bright side, drug maker Moderna announced on May 18 that early tests for their in-development coronavirus vaccine look promising.

The company's Chief Medical Officer Tal Zaks, MD, PhD stated that "These interim Phase 1 data, while early, demonstrate that vaccination with mRNA-1273 elicits an immune response of the magnitude caused by natural infection starting with a dose as low as 25 µg. When combined with the success in preventing viral replication in the lungs of a pre-clinical challenge model at a dose that elicited similar levels of neutralising antibodies, these data substantiate our belief that mRNA-1273 has the potential to prevent Covid-19 disease and advance our ability to select a dose for pivotal trials."

Is there a vaccine for any coronavirus?

While vaccines for various forms of coronaviruses are in development, none have been approved to be administered to the public.

Is there a vaccine for MERS?

According to the CDC, "There is currently no vaccine to protect people against MERS. But scientists are working to develop one."

Is there a vaccine for SARS?

Britain's National Health Service states that "There's currently no cure for SARS, but research to find a vaccine is ongoing."
