The owner of TikTok asked a federal judge in Washington for a preliminary injunction to block the Trump administration from removing the social network from US app stores.

TikTok faces a deadline this weekend of getting the sale of its US operations approved or facing a de-facto ban from an Aug 6 executive order by President Donald Trump.

"In the absence of preliminary injunctive relief, the Aug 6 order and the Prohibitions will cause Plaintiffs irreparable harm, and the equities and public interest weigh in Plaintiffs’ favour,” according to the filing Sept 23.
