Sales of gaming PCs and monitors are growing at rates faster than their parent markets, with demand expected to remain strong through 2025, according to the latest forecast from IDC.

This momentum can be explained by the fact that people are more sedentary in the post-covid era, but also by a significant drop in prices.

For gaming PCs (desktops and laptops), shipments are expected to rise from 41.3 million in 2020 to 52.3 million by 2025.

Over the same period, the gaming monitor market is expected to grow from 14.2 million units to 26.4 million. This equates to annual growth rates of 4.8% and 13.2% respectively.

In 2020, the Covid-19 pandemic boosted sales of video game hardware as people spent more time at home and on screen-based activities in general.

In 2021, demand remains very strong and shows no sign of slowing.

The growth in sales is also contributing to pushing down prices, which is leading new consumers to opt for this type of inherently high-performance hardware.
