BRUSSELS - A task force at the European Union's privacy watchdog said OpenAI's recent efforts to mitigate the risk of its famous chatbot producing factually false output weren't enough to ensure compliance with EU data rules.

"Although the measures taken in order to comply with the transparency principle are beneficial to avoid misinterpretation of the output of ChatGPT, they are not sufficient to comply with the data accuracy principle," the task force said in a report released on its website on Friday.

The joint investigations conducted by national EU privacy watchdogs are still ongoing, the report said, adding it was therefore not yet possible to provide a full description of the results.
