GMT Research: Our AirAsia report was 'stolen'
Hong Kong-based GMT Research, which published a report accusing budget airline AirAsia of dubious accounting practices, is saying that this report was "stolen" and published unintentionally.
The June 10 report wasn't meant for public consumption, GMT Research founder Gillen Tulloch said.
It was meant for subscribers who pay the company a "substantial amount of money", Tulloch is quoted as saying by business dailyThe Malaysian Reserve (TMR) today.
The financial analyst claimed that a client had copied the report and uploaded it on the Internet.
"If we find out who stole our research, we will get our lawyers to send them a cease and desist letter," Tulloch said.
The June 10 report caused AirAsia Bhd's share to plunge by almost 20 percent, causing it to shed some RM1.2 billion in market capitalisation
The GMT Research report also questions the airline's “accounting, profit generation, cash-flow issues, leverage and group structure,” Tulloch is quoted as saying by Bloomberg on June 12.
Tulloch denied that his company’s report was used for short-selling activities.
"Clearly, we won't deny that the publicity generated has been good for us," he told TMR.

r moi 50 years from now, you will have this conversation with ur grandchild, u will say : neh neh.. long time ago bought aa and holland big time, the lesson i learned is never buy a airline stocks again... cough cough..
but your grandchild refuse to listen to you and proceed to buy another airline stocks..
legend say a man time travel from years 3000 and he say, after 20 generation, rmoi your descendant still continue the tradition of buying airline stocks and holland big time..

I see it as... I am at the moment on the same path as WB and a step closer to attaining enlightenment and the status to WB...

Joke aside.... if WB has seen AirAsia before.. he would definitely have a very different view of airlines... and approve.. and will say.. "This is how airlines should be run... as a mean of transport.. not a luxurious thingy... well done AirAsia!!"

WB may not been looking into any airlines at all after his ZEN moment... his loss
Anyway.. WB has made many mistakes in the sense that he has misssed many opportunities due to his bias...
I am pretty sure WB till now thinks the max for the NASDAQ should be no more than 1000... and FACEBOOK is a total scam and GOOGLE will collapse tomorrow..

GMT has painted it so urgent like... like AirAsia was going bankrupt the next day after its report....

NOT according to the auditors PwC
PwC didn't qualify IAA PAA as non going concerns
PwC didn't even impair the amounts due from IAA PAA... this would be after reviewing their cash-flow projections... of course
GMT has put what might happen in the next few years... with all its negetive assumptions too... to happen in like all of 30 days

Muller tak jadi? IMHO he stands a good chance.. albeit with a small little symbolic national airline working substantially on the LCC biz model..
A profitable national airline nontheless... just dont ask why it is so small and not quite so prestigious.. MAS would eventually be profitable aand a symbolic national pride and thank goodness no longer eating up taxpayers money

According to results....
Aircraft fuel expenses for 2014: 2,254,237,000
Say, fuel consumption remains more or less the same and say, the average jet fuel price has dropped a mere 25% (vs 50% for crude.. easier la like this no need to really know how many % is hedged at how much... a drop of 25% is reasonable) So... 2,254,237,000 × 25% = 563,559,250 ie saving for 2015 roughly
The saving due to low fuel price for 2015 would be RM 563,559,250 before RM 60,000,000 say for fuel surcharge.... a bloody big figure no matter how you look at it
AirAsia's low jet fuel play is sound... and the reason for all the IBs' Buy call
