Russia's Sputnik - the Covid-19 vaccine - touches down in the Philippines

MANILA, July 10 : One hundred thirty two thousand two hundred doses of the Russian-made Sputnik V Covid-19 vaccine procured by the government arrived has arrived in Manila, the capital of the Philippines.

According to the National Task Force (NTF) against Covid-19, 82, 000 doses from this latest Sputnik V delivery will serve as the first vaccine dose while 50, 000 are allocated as the second dose.

An additional 37, 800 doses of the Russian jab was also delivered to the country on Saturday (July 9).

Vaccine czar Sec. Carlito Galvez Jr., also the NTF Against COVID-19 chief implementer, and Russian Ambassador to the Philippines Marat Pavlov witnessed the arrival of the vaccines at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

The Philippines has earlier received 180, 000 Sputnik V vaccine doses.

Sputnik V, developed by the Gamaleya Institute of Russia, is administered in two doses three weeks apart.

But the country’s Food and Drug Administration has allowed a wider interval of up to 42 days between the Sputnik V doses.
