Malaysia to impose total national lockdown from June 1-14 as Covid cases hit new record.

About 1 year ago, I posted a similar article to criticise the Trump administration when the US had the biggest number of Covid 19 cases in the world.

In the last 50 or more years, I have been managing companies and also examining list companies to find good profit growth stocks for investment. I found out that good managers produce good result and bad managers produce bad result. The company Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and the members of the Board of Directors are fully responsible for the management of the company.

Malaysia has the highest number of civil servants per capita in the world.

We have 1.6 million civil servants for 32 million people. 1 civil servant to manage 19 people. About 2 years ago, I wrote and posted an article about our civil service. Tan Sri Muhyiddin who was the Home Minister issued an order for my arrest. The police grilled me for 2.5 hours at the Jelepang police station.

On this occasion, I hope he can appreciate my honest intention for writing this piece and will not issue an order to arrest me.

Malaysia has the most Covid 19 cases per capita in the world as shown of the chart below.

Managing a country is like managing thousands of companies scattered all over the country. The PM is the CEO and the Ministers are Directors of the country. They must be fully responsible for the management of the Covid 19 pandemic. The number of Covid 19 cases is the true measure of their management efficiency.

Malaysia posted another record high new Covid-19 cases with 8,290 infections, up from 7,857 yesterday, raising total cas4es to 549,514. This is the first time the country has breached the 8,000 level for daily cases.

Health Director General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said in a tweet that Selangor remains the state with the most new infections at 2,052, followed by Kelantan (851) and Kuala Lumpur (830).

Elsewhere, Johor posted 762 new cases, Sarawak (698), Kedah (544), Negeri Sembilan (520), Penang (421), Perak (405), Melaka (380), Sabah (308), Pahang (254), Terengganu (207), Putrajaya (44), Perlis (8) and Labuan (6).

Meanwhile, a total of 61 Covid-19 deaths were reported today. Daily recoveries totalled 4,814, raising the total number of discharged patients to 474,139, for a recovery rate of 86.3%.

Active cases that carry transmission risks rose to 72,823, of which 808 patients are now in intensive care, with 403 requiring respiratory help.

The Ministry of Health had earlier this month predicted that lax compliance with standard operating procedures could push the number of daily Covid-19 cases past 8,000 in the first week of June.

Meanwhile, the ministry identified 21 new Covid-19 clusters today, including six workplace clusters, six community clusters, four religious event-linked clusters, and three education-related clusters.

Why should Pharmaniaga be the sole Sinovac distributer in Malaysia?

Since China has been our biggest trading partner for a long time, our government should have bought all the required Sinovac directly from the manufacturer instead of paying more from Pharmaniaga.

In fact, our government should have bought all our required Sinovac vaccines much earlier from China. If most Malaysians are vaccinated, our government would not require to impose total national lockdown.

Our government must realise that total national lockdown will affect all the people, companies’   performance and our economy.
