Kuala Lumpur, 6 May 2024: Rakuten Trade Sdn. Bhd. (Rakuten Trade), Malaysia’s pioneer in fully digital broking services, revved up the market last year alongside Tesla Malaysia’s debut with its ‘Tesla ShareGiveaway’ Campaign. This was swiftly followed up with a ‘Trade Smart & Win A Tesla’ Campaign, giving Malaysians the opportunity to win a brand-new Tesla Model Y worth more than RM200,000. Geared at boosting trading among individual investors, both campaigns received an enthusiastic response from the public.

Recipient of the new Tesla, Mr Yee Yit Tong (a 39-year-old engineer hailing from Tapah, Perak) shared that he started trading with Rakuten Trade in 2019. “It was the ideal platform for me to test trading ideas and to discover what kind of trader I am. Its low brokerage and rewards program made it the most cost-efficient choice for me while its intuitive platform helped me navigate the Bursa Malaysiamarket with confidence.”

Yee traded more than 200 times in the last three months of 2023 via the Rakuten Trade platform his Tesla win “a pleasant and electrifying surprise”. His advice to novice and intermediate traders? “Don’t be afraid to plug into the world of equities. With the right tools and resources, it can be a rewarding ride.”

The "Trade Smart & Win A Tesla" Campaign ran from 1 October – 31 December 2023. The rules were simple: the more you trade, the better the chance of winning. Each trade matched on Bursa Malaysia,NYSE/NASDAQ, or the Hong Kong Exchange earned one entry into the lucky draw.

Rakuten Trade's CEO, Mr. Kazumasa Mise, stated, "Despite the tumultuous performance of Tesla'sstock over the past year, the sustained demand for Tesla-related campaigns and the stock itself has remained steadfast. At Rakuten Trade, we are committed to equipping everyday investors with the necessary tools to engage with the stock market in a manner that is both accessible and empowering. The success of this Campaign underscores our deep understanding of our clients' preferences. We look forward to further supporting Malaysians' investment endeavors through engaging initiatives such as this."

Rakuten Trade’s ‘Trade Smart & Win A Tesla’ Campaign sparked a trading frenzy during the final quarter of 2023. This surge reflects the growing enthusiasm among Malaysians for trading on both domestic and international markets, buoyed by the thriving tech sector from electric vehicles (EV) and artificial intelligence (AI).

Rakuten Trade is thrilled to announce the grand prize winner of its "Trade Smart & Win A Tesla" giveaway! Mr. Yee Yit Tong is the lucky investor who brought home a Tesla Model Y after emerging victorious in the exciting competition.

This press release also provides details on the giveaway, the winner's story and investor appetite for Tesla stocks / brand.
