Alibaba Group Holding Ltd (9988.HK)

Alibaba Group and Ant Group researchers to develop VideoComposer, which provides enhanced spatial and temporal controllability for video synthesis. This is accomplished by first dissecting a video into its constituent parts—textual condition, spatial condition, and critical temporal condition—and then using a latent diffusion model to reconstruct the input video under the influence of these elements.

In addition, they introduce a unified spatiotemporal coder (STCencoder) that employs cross-frame attention mechanisms to  capture spatiotemporal relations within sequential input, resulting in improved cross-frame consistency of the output movies.

Bank Of China Ltd-H (3988.HK)

OCI, Bank of China’s investment banking division, has broken new ground by issuing CN¥200m (US$28m) in fully digital structured notes in Hong Kong. This is the first instance of a tokenized security issuance by a Chinese financial institution in the region.

UBS originated the product, which was allocated to its clients across the Asia-Pacific region, demonstrating an ongoing partnership between BOCI and UBS in the field of digital structured notes.

This recent transaction signifies the launch of the first product in the Asia-Pacific region of its kind, established under the legal frameworks of Hong Kong and Switzerland and tokenized on the primary Ethereum blockchain.

Chow Tai Fook Jewellery Group (1929.HK)

Chow Tai Fook Jewellery Group Ltd, one of the world’s largest jewellery retailers by market value, is dialling back expansion plans in an effort to boost profitability as the company fends off intensifying competition. The group is planning to add 600 to 800 new stores in mainland China in the fiscal year ending March 2024, vice-chairman Sonia Cheng said in an interview last Thursday, down from more than 1,500 it added over the past year.

The company reported a 20% slump in profit to HK$5.4bn (US$700m) in the year ended March 31, missing analyst expectations, due to unrealised losses from gold loans amid price volatility and foreign exchange losses from a weakening yuan.

“To meet the overall needs of our visitors for a more diverse travel experience, we have been dedicated to introducing a wider range of music and entertainment elements in our integrated resort while striving to create more related facilities as attractions.
