Baidu has announced the expansion of Apollo Go, its autonomous ride-hailing platform, to expand its driverless car service to cover Wuhan Tianhe International Airport.

The service is currently offered to selected Apollo Go users by invitation and will be made available to the general public in September. The expansion of Apollo Go’s operation area to Wuhan Tianhe Airport is a significant step towards pioneering driverless airport transportation in China.

Baidu says the significant number of passengers traveling through Wuhan’s Tianhe Airport provides a strong foundation for the further growth of Baidu Apollo. Located 25km from the center of Wuhan, Tianhe Airport is one of China’s eight major regional hub airports.

CNOOC Ltd (883.HK)

CNOOC Ltd has completed installation of a major offshore platform, a key milestone before first oil towards year-end at the Lufeng oil complex in the Pearl River Mouth basin of the South China Sea.

The Lufeng oil cluster comprises of three oil fields — Lufeng 8-1, Lufeng 14-8 and Lufeng 9-2 — in average water depths of 136 metres. At peak, the three fields will 24,000 barrels per day of light oil. The LF8-1DPP is an eight-leg drilling and production platform, with a total of 24 well slots, including 15 production wells and two water injection wells.

Geely Automobile Holdings Ltd (175.HK)

Geely Automobile's vehicle sales grew by 24% to 152,626 units last month from the same period of last year. Sales of pure electric vehicles rose by 13% to 31,652 units in August, and those of plug-in hybrid EVs surged by 65 percent to 15,647 units.

In the first eight months of the year, Geely delivered 984,806 vehicles, up by 15% YoY. Among them, sales of pure EVs jumped by 44% to 195,573 units and hybrid EVs by 17% to 50,629 units. Geely also said it sold 12,303 cars under its premium EV brand Zeeker in August, which soared by 72% from 12 months ago.

NWS Holdings Ltd (659.HK)

Chow Tai Fook Enterprises, the private family office of billionaire Henry Cheng, will keep NWS Holdings Ltd listed on Hong Kong’s stock exchange after its buyout of the majority stake is finalised, clearing up uncertainty among investors about the future of the infrastructure firm.

Chow Tai Fook will not exercise the option to acquire all the outstanding shares of NWS, which is a unit of the Cheng family’s property-to-retail conglomerate New World Development Co. If the public float of NWS falls below 25% following the close of the deal, “appropriate steps will be taken” to ensure it’s maintained at a level that will see the firm remain listed.

Tencent Holdings Ltd (700.HK)

Tencent has received a Gold Certificate from the Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data, Hong Kong (PCPD) at the "PrivacyFriendly Award 2023" for its achievements in personal data privacy protection. This accolade is presented to companies that demonstrate the highest standards in safeguarding personal data.
