PUTRAJAYA, May 24 — The federal government’s debt and liabilities amount to a total of RM1,087.0 billion or 80.3 per cent of the gross domestic product (GDP) as on December 31, 2017, Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng revealed today amid public cynicism.

Lim said the amount of RM1 trillion quoted by Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad was the total figure of government debt, government guarantees and lease payments for Public-Private Partnerships (PPP).

“The official federal government debt is RM686.8 billion (50.8 per cent of the GDP), and the administration is already committed to pay government guarantees for various entities who are unable to service their debts that amount to RM199.1 billion (14.6 per cent of the GDP).

“Based on the two items above, the debt stands at RM885.9 billion or 65.4 per cent, and the government is also obligated to make lease payments under a PPP list (construction of schools, roads, hospitals and police stations) which amounts to RM201.4 billion (14.9 per cent of the GDP),” he said in a press conference.

VenFx sifu, Prasarana owns all these LRT MRT ler, I think it is only a guarantee. Unable to pay their debts than very serious already, means they are making huge losses, or their debt structure got problem.

If it is really that badm it is possible for Prasarana to restructure and list some entities under it and get money from the IPO, or convert the debts to shares gua
