CYBERJAYA: French companies – which have a significant presence in Malaysia – should continue to invest here because the government, among others, is focused on creating a stable economy and a friendly business environment for investors, says the Prime Minister.

Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said the Government was also targeting good fiscal discipline, good governance and commitment to ensure transparency in doing business.

"We are also committed to removing corruption and launching institutional reforms," he told French companies at a dialogue session with them on Monday (Feb 10).

Dr Mahathir said to ensure that Malaysia remains business-friendly, the Malaysia Incorporated policy will be revived and which will see close cooperation between the government and private sectors.

"The development of education is a priority to ensure we produce the right Malaysian talent needed for the 21st century or the digital age.

"We also welcome expatriates and foreign talent into Malaysia and we remain very generous with the various employment and resident passes for high-skilled and specialised foreign talent," he said.

The Prime Minister also pointed to Malaysia's infrastructure, saying more quality infrastructure will be built, presenting opportunities for French companies.

"In short, Malaysia is very much open for business. We will implement our Shared Prosperity Vision 2030 which will open opportunities for foreign companies to participate and benefit.

"The world is changing and a new order is emerging which Malaysia and France have a lot to gain by working together," he said.
