ALOR SETAR: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia will be holding party elections soon to decide who leads the party, says its chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

He admitted that the party is currently split between him and Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

“Bersatu has split into two, with some members following the president (Muhyiddin) and some following the chairman.

“We are still one party but a part of the party has accepted (Datuk Seri) Najib (Razak), ” said Dr Mahathir.

Asked which faction is the ‘real’ Bersatu, he replied: “We are still one Bersatu but there is a faction that follows Najib.”

Pakatan Harapan’s 22-month Federal Government came to an end following Bersatu’s pullout from the coalition and Dr Mahathir’s shock resignation on Feb 24.

Some Bersatu members, together with Barisan Nasional and PAS, have since come together to form Perikatan Nasional, endorsing Muhyiddin as the country’s eighth Prime Minister.

To another question about Muhyiddin’s statement that he had assumed the role of Bersatu acting chairman, Dr Mahathir said there was no such thing.

“The party’s constitution provides for only one chairman.

“He is not acting. I am still the chairman. What’s this about him being acting chairman? I did resign earlier but I later reaccepted the post.

“There will be an election in Bersatu soon to decide who leads the party, ” he told reporters after attending a feast at Dewan Wawasan in Jitra yesterday.

Earlier, Dr Mahathir briefed his audience on the nation’s latest political scenario.

He was accompanied by his wife Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali, Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir and his wife Tok Puan Norzieta Zakaria.

Also present were former deputy finance minister Datuk Amiruddin Hamzah, State Assembly Speaker Datuk Ahmad Kassim, Kedah PKR chairman Datuk Johari Abdul and Kedah DAP chairman Tan Kok Yew.

Mukhriz, who is also Bersatu deputy president, also gave a briefing on the present status of the Kedah government.

He reaffirmed that everything was under control based on kata sepakat (mutual agreement).

“The state does not face big problems. The government voted by the people in the 14th General Election is still ruling the state.

“We will make sure that all promises made will be carried out and fulfilled before the next general election.

“The welfare of the people is the top priority, ” he said.

Meanwhile, Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS), which has 18 lawmakers, has decided to join the Federal Government on the condition that the administration is known as the Perikatan Nasional-GPS government, said Sarawak Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg.

“This is because we are a separate political entity from Perikatan, and we are not in Perikatan, ” he said.

The Chief Minister said GPS decided to take up Cabinet posts in the new government on the premise that its representatives will pursue state rights.

After much reflection, all this started with the PH Presidential Council of which Tun M, DS Anwar, Lim KS, Lim GE and others are member. They should all take responsibility for the mess as they and only they agreed just before GE14 as candidates (the treacherous MPs that had leap-frog away) and accepting Bersatu as partner of PH and now they are gone. And most knew what character they are of.

Like in the "so-called" western countries that are "democratic" and of principled people (that we all aspired to be), they - Tun M, DS Anwar, Lim KS, Lim GE should immediately resigned to take responsibility. Anything less is an affront to the voters that have voted for PH. And worse of all, they said they are not responsible and pointing fingers at everyone else except themselves - what a disgraced, a damn lousy example you all are setting, especially those that are writing apology for them.

Now is the time for the so call young progressive members (e.g Nurul, Wan Saiful, etc) of all these political parties to stand up and take over the leading from all these old leaders that are totally bankrupt of any new ideas to lead and of no moral standing whatsoever..

Malay unity govt can be achieved by bersatu running back to PH and forming a govt comprising of;

1. Muhiddin- PM
2. Anwar- DPM
3. Mahathir- Senior Minister PM dept
4. Rafizi/zeti- Finance Minister
5. Mat sabu- Internal Minister
6. Nurul Anwar- Education Minister

Dap should not accept any cabinet post but should be a back benchers govt pro party in charge of ombudsmen appointment and parliament reformed so that can keep all malay unity govt in check for the benefit of all malaysian loh....!!

A president council comprising all the supporting parties like bersatu, pkr, amanah, dap and warisan should be appointed to oversee and balance the power of PM so that we will never fall back to dictator regime loh...!! This president council should be headed by shafie abdal of warisan loh....!! The President council will oversee the appointment of the quality of cabinet minister loh...!!

This all malay cabinet team plus Daps as umpire should serve well for malaysia until next general election loh...!!

With Muhiddin run back & anwar as DPM that will reinforce PH & bring back confidence loh...!!

They should be a racial & religous harmony law and anti hopping law loh...!!

Sosma will be abolished loh....!!

MA63 will be honored but the monetary payout to sabah & Sarawak will be incremental increase over 8 years until it achieve target loh...!!
