KUALA LUMPUR: Caretaker Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin today called on the public to take proactive measures and be responsible for their health and safety when in public areas, including at mosques.

In a Facebook post, Muhyiddin also called on the public to never stop praying for protection and strength in facing the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

"Let's pray that we will always be protected by Allah SWT from the Covid-19 virus and be given the strength to face the challenges due to this pandemic.

"Hopefully, this situation will gradually improve and the Malaysia that we love will always be peaceful, prosperous and rise to be stronger than before, Insya-Allah (God willing).

"Never stop praying for help from Allah SWT, because that is the nature of us, his servants, who have no power except by the grace of the Almighty.

"If we are always guided by the path of Allah, the Quran, and the Sunnah, I believe our lives will be calmer and more meaningful.

"Do not do what you feel is right. Do what Allah says is right. Do what is right and 'Kepada Allah SWT jualah kita berserah (to Allah, we submit)," he said.

In the same post, Muhyiddin also shared that earlier he had the opportunity to perform Friday prayers at the Saidina Umar Al-Khattab Mosque in Bukit Damansara, together with other congregants under strict adherence to standard operating procedures.

Posted at 2.30pm, the post had received over 17,000 likes and 700 comments.

Thailand, with the population twice of Malaysia, is now having less new covid case per day than us.

Malaysia's increasing surge of new cases is mainly due to the elimination of the need to wear pink strap for closed/casual contact and self-quarantined individuals.

These suspects are allowed to go anywhere without being noticed.

Then the vaccinated will spread to un-vaccinated. Delta variant is a bit different. The virus volume (viral load) is hundred times more and the chance of binding with our ACE2 receptor is much higher. The world is now in the phase similar to the 2nd phase of Spanish flu.

Stockraider must be living in a location where the cases is almost 0.

We now live in a situation that people nearby get infected even with 2 jabs.

stockraider, alamak! Not all Malaysians are vaccinated!

If all people are vaccinated, your statement above is acceptable.

Vaccinated doesn't mean you cannot spread to unvaccinated. Kids and teenagers are all not vaccinated! You stay in Mars, Singapore or what.. Moon? Underwater near the sea dragon palace?

At this rate of vaccination we are herd immunity soon mah!

stockraider, how about those got infected due to "No Fear" mindset of those who have taken jabs before reaching herd immunity? Letting loose too early can be fatal to many. What's wrong with being cautious? Such careful action influences the stock price of those you bought maybe. If the stocks you bought are really good, why worry they won't go up so soon?

Many may die because of this.

Vaccine won't turn covid into common cold or flu.

I think you misinterpreted the scientific part of herd immunity. It's just statistical concept. Virus won't be affected by whether you achieved it or not.

70% immunity may wipe out the virus provided that 70% don't spread those the remaining 30% and the pandemic is over. It's not just science. It's also math.

70% with immunity and it is kept that way, the virus will be wiped out 3 weeks later. But those 70% need to be very disciplined.
