KUALA LUMPUR: Pakatan Harapan's plan to work with Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad to battle it out against Barisan Nasional is seen as implausible, the coalition's secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said.
He said this despite PH chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's willingness to meet Dr Mahathir again.
"Pakatan Harapan (PH) is prepared to face the 15th general election (GE15) without Pejuang and its chairman Dr Mahathir.
"We respect him as a partner whom we have experience fighting alongside. We understand the times when one is desperate to seek allies, and when it is easy to break promises.
"Yes, we share the same goal of defeating BN and Perikatan Nasional. However, Harapan will face GE15 as a Mahathir-free coalition.
"We pray for Mahathir's good health, and if he chooses to contest, we wish him all the best," Saifuddin Nasution said, based on a local report.
Currently, Dr. Mahathir is the leader of an eclectic alternative Opposition coalition known as Gerakan Tanah Air and has confirmed that he will defend his Langkawi parliamentary seat in the 15th General Election.
Yesterday, he invited Anwar to a possible electoral collaboration. The PKR president said he was willing to meet but was indefinite to team up again in GE15.
However, Saifuddin stated that PH's priority is to rally its constituent parties and advance the electoral pacts it has agreed to work with.
"We had a relationship with Dr Mahathir during the 2018 general election with good intentions and goals, which is to topple a kleptocratic government.
"As a result, Dr Mahathir became the prime minister with support from PKR, DAP, and Amanah. At the time, all decisions were discussed collectively, but Dr Mahathir resigned without any discussion.
"Dr Mahathir's stance is absolute which is he never attempted to follow through on what was agreed upon." He was aware of the internal betrayal conspiracy and chose to break the alliance."
Following the 2018 general election, which propelled PH to Putrajaya, Dr Mahathir became Prime Minister.
His administration fell apart in February 2020 after several MPs from his former party Bersatu and PKR reached an agreement with their Umno and Pas rivals.

This Msia big problem started from when Tun M was the Edu Minister… lowering the standards of passing marks for exams.
Now, all sectors of industry suffered from our low quality of Human Resources. And all workers of Msia lower quality compared to Singapore our nearest rival.
So Msia now can’t compete in global markets…
