GUA MUSANG: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has described Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad as so desperate that he had to share the same stage with Perikatan Nasional (PN) leaders.

The prime minister also claimed that Dr Mahathir was the "most cruel" person towards Pas, sekolah agama rakyat (religious school), and victims of the Memali incident, but is now being supported by the Islamist party and PN.

Anwar, nevertheless, said the former prime minister's action would not affect the support for Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) in the state polls next month.

"He is a desperate man, with no other place for him. Tun (Dr) Mahathir was the most cruel person towards Pas, the religious school and the victims of the Memali incident. But he is now being supported by the coalition.

"It is his right not to give up. But this will not affect the support for us (PH-BN)," he told reporters after Majlis Ramah Mesra Bersama Warga Felda here today.

Present was Felda chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek. Yesterday, Dr Mahathir attended the "Kelantan Munajat" gathering organised by PN at Stadium Sultan Muhamad IV.

Dr Mahathir called on all Malay voters in the six states to cast their votes in the Aug 12 elections to ensure PN's victory.

In the past, Dr Mahathir was known to be critical of Pas and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia, but all that changed in May when his "Malay Proclamation" movement received endorsement from Pas.
