PH leaders urge voters to block extremism in upcoming by-elections

A VOTE for the Perikatan Nasional (PN) in the two by-elections on Sept 9 will let extremism dominate the political narrative, said Amanah president Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu.
 
For that matter, he urged voters to give the Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) candidates a chance and that will send a message that the people want to block the progress of religious and racial extremists.
 
“The victory of this government’s candidates is important because we do not want racial extremists or religious extremists to dominate the situation (government administration).
 
“We have seen in some other Islamic countries that have been destroyed to the point of causing the people to be impoverished, lose their property and so on. 
 
“We don’t want to fight outside battles, instead we build unity between these races including through the unity government that exists today,” he said at a PH talk at Wisma DAP Muar, Taman Sakeh Baru last night (Sept 1). 
 
Meanwhile, DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke Siew Fook insisted that the issue of race relations is not a problem for the country. On the other hand, Loke said the problem the country is currently facing is politics from extremist factions.
 
“Today, we have an issue that is not a racial issue, not an issue between Malays and Chinese or Indians.
 
“Today the problem is not about the relationship between Malays, Chinese and Indians, but our problem is that there are factions that practice extreme politics, extreme politics, which will divide our country,” he said.
 
He added that neither the Chinese nor the Indian races were enemies of the Malays.
 
“Chinese are not an enemy to Malays and Malays are not enemies to Indians and Chinese, we are all Malaysians,” added the Seremban MP. 
 
He also noted that a vote for PH-BN on Sept 9 will help give a better direction for the country’s political future. 
 
To ensure that the unity in this country remains intact, Loke reminded voters in two constituencies this time, namely in the Pulai parliamentary and Simpang Jeram state assembly seats, to go out and vote on Sept 9.
 
Moreover, Loke also spoke on calls by some parties for the DAP to change its political slogans and stick to Malaysia for Malaysians to gain support from various ethnic groups
 
Loke pointed out that all parties have their own slogans and that was part of an understanding between the parties in the coalition before forming the unity government.
 
“Before forming the unity government, all parties agreed not to touch on each party’s principles and constitutions. UMNO president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi was satisfied with our explanation before BN joined PH to form the unity government.” – Sept 2, 2023

How can a vote make you a religious or racial extremist? Is 33 months under PN mean malaysia under extremist regime? What they have done to get an extremist label?

Can't. But indirectly can expose religious or racial extremism since voting pattern does reflect the people's maturity, mentality and cognitive ability in choosing representatives and their manifesto.

And, for extremists, anything that is as speculative, additive and deceitful in nature as the stock market that has caused bankruptcy and taken away many lives should be deemed nothing short of a sinful type of gambling.
