SEREMBAN: Negri Sembilan hopes to register RM7bil in investments this year, says Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun.

The Mentri Besar said although this was lower than the RM8.9bil in 2022, it was still a good achievement.

"In 2022, we got about RM6bil from Samsung alone. Since we did not get a single large investment from one company in 2023, RM7bil is still commendable," he said.

The investment of Samsung SDI Energy Malaysia Sdn Bhd (SDIEM) was to build a state-of-the-art facility to manufacture electric vehicle batteries near its existing plant at the Taman Tuanku Ja'afar Industrial Area here.

Aminuddin said the new investments this year had helped create new jobs, which allowed Negri Sembilan to have among the lowest unemployment rates in the country.

He said many investors were attracted to the state's investor-friendly policies.

"Last week, I met representatives from a company which builds aircraft components who are keen to expand here," he said.

Last week, Aminuddin said the state government will open up at least five new industrial areas in 2024.

He said demand for industrial areas was high and existing areas had run out of space.

The new areas will, among others, be located in Nilai, Bandar Ainsdale, Sime Darby (Parcel B) and Senawang.
