KUALA LUMPUR: Medical officers instructed to work on Saturdays and public holidays will now receive a locum allowance of RM80 per hour.

Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad announced that this decision will commence immediately.

"The issue of locum allowance for doctors working overtime has been addressed, with approval granted for a payment rate of RM80 per hour.

"This is good news that I want to convey to the media," he told the reporters at the press conference today.

The eligible medical officers include those working at three clinics in Selangor on Saturdays and public holidays, with permission also granted for those on duty on Sundays from 9am to 1pm.
