PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong has questioned Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli in Parliament on how the Central Database Hub (Padu) data is verified.

Dr Wee said during the minister's question time, Rafizi answered the question of Bachok MP on the new classification of net disposable household income compared to the classification based on household income (B40, M40, T20), which is being used currently.

"I managed to ask an additional question on how the data is verified, the justification of disposable income, data security, how to prevent hackers and subsequently, convince people to register under Padu," said the Ayer Hitam MP on a Facebook video on Tuesday (March 5).

Rafizi in a reply to Dr Wee said there has been some confusion on the disposable income as existing government data already has details on individuals.

"We are looking at exclusion and inclusion errors in updating the data, for example, if the existing data matches the data on Padu, we regard it as the 'gold standard'.

Rafizi said there could be some families receiving 1Malaysia People's Aid (BR1M) and later Rahmah Cash Aid (STR) as they were classified as poor but when the household income was updated on Padu they could have higher income and several cars, which would not be accurate to receive aid.

"We are cleaning the system, and there will usually be teething problems when the government is updating the data and the aim is to ensure all who are eligible do get the government aid," added Rafizi.

Cleaning the system by having people voluntarily declaring their assets? Must be a very peculiar strategy. First time hearing this.
