KUALA LUMPUR: Registration and updating for Central Database Hub (Padu) is free of charge with no fees imposed, said the Economy Ministry.

In an official post on its Facebook page, the ministry cautioned the public to be careful and not trust anyone offering paid services to register for Padu. (https://www.facebook.com/100068900662649/posts/726825692957446/?mibextid...)

"Apart from wasting your money, your personal data will also be in their hands," it said.

This follows the recent advertising of illicit agent services on community groups via social media.

One example which recently raised attention was on the 'Penduduk Sungai Petani Kedah' Facebook Group directed for residents living in and around the area of Sungai Petani. (https://www.facebook.com/groups/penduduksungaipetanikedah/permalink/1928...)

User Zaafaran A Aziz noted he offered services with "reasonable charge" for anyone facing issues with their registration.

While reminding the public to register with Padu by Mar 31, the ministry stressed for the public to not fall for false promotion.

Registration can be made through the official website (padu.gov.my) or by paying a visit to any physical counter. For information on the latter, the public contact their respective Department of Statistics Malaysia (DoSM) state office.
