KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 8.79 million people have updated their personal information in the Central Database Hub (Padu).

This was announced by the Economy Ministry, based on records up until 11.59pm last night, with only four days left to update the Padu system.

"Up until 11.59pm last night, 8.79 million people out of 30.08 million have updated their information in the Padu system, based on administrative data sources.

"We thank the Malaysians who have updated their information in Padu," the ministry posted on Facebook.

It said people can still update their information in the system by March 31 to allow those qualified for government assistance to receive benefits.

Yesterday, the ministry also reminded the public to be cautious of any party offering paid services to register in Padu.

This, it said, is because registration and updating in Padu are free.

Registration for Padu can be done for free through the link http://padu.gov.my and if physical counter assistance is needed, contact the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) office in respective states.

Information about state DOSM offices can be found at https://dosm.gov.my/portal-main/directory/.

Padu plays a role in ensuring that the people receive benefits such as assistance or protection (if eligible) from government initiatives.
