THE Public Accounts Committee (PAC) will initiate proceedings on the acquisition and development of the defunct National Integrated Immigration System (NIISe), said its chairman Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin.

According to Mas Ermieyati, PAC decided to start proceedings on NIISe following the High Court’s decision to order the government to pay Prestariang SKIN Sdn Bhd about RM231.5mil for cancelling the National Immigration Control System (SKIN) in 2019.

Mas Ermieyati said proceedings on NIISe will take place concurrently with PAC’s proceedings on the Armed Forces Fund (LTAT) after Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

She said PAC proceedings on NIISe will involve calling witnesses from the Home Ministry, the Immigration Department, the Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit (Mampu), CyberSecurity Malaysia, SKIN and vendors.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said on Nov 21 last year that the government decided to terminate the NIISe contract for failing to fulfil its obligation within the period stipulated in the agreement.

Saifuddin had said then about RM106.93mil was spent for the payment of user requirement provisions before the NIISe contract was cancelled.
