GUA MUSANG: It took 10 hours for city folks driving back to Kuala Lumpur just to reach Gua Musang from Kota Baru today.

A survey found that the routes from Gua Musang to Kuala Krai and Gua Musang to Kuala Lipis were busy again, making the district a gateway out of the state.

However, traffic in this area is smooth, with congestion only occurring at the entry ramp to the Central Spine Road (CSR) or Kuala Krai-Kuala Pilah Highway in Mentara.

One traveller, Wan Ibrahim Wan Harun, 38, said he and his family left Kota Baru at 3.30am to avoid traffic congestion.

However, he said, there was severe congestion on the route from Machang to Kuala Krai.

"I planned to return to Kuala Lumpur today because I expected worse congestion tomorrow.

"Around 10.30am, I arrived at the Gua Musang Transit Centre to take a short break before continuing the journey.

"I was informed that there was also congestion near Kuala Lipis and hoped that our family's journey would be smooth," he said when met at the Gua Musang Transit Center here today.

Meanwhile, Rohani Sulaiman, 44, said she expected there would be congestion as the police predicted yesterday that city folks would return to the capital.

"So I chose to return today so that I could rest tomorrow before starting work on Monday.

"I chose to use the Gua Musang-Jeli route to Shah Alam. Alhamdulillah, our journey was okay even though there were many vehicles, but traffic was quite smooth," she said.

Earlier, the media reported that the police expected the district to receive an influx of traffic enroute to Kuala Lumpur starting Friday.

Gua Musang police chief Superintendent Sik Choon Foo said they are always ready to fulfil their responsibility of managing the busy traffic expected since yesterday.
