KUALA KUBU BARU: Fahmi Fadzil has questioned why top Pas leaders are absent three days into campaigning period at the Kuala Kubu Baharu (KKB) by-election.

The Pakatan Harapan (PH) information chief also questioned whether Pas was boycotting the election.

He said so far only Bersatu leaders have joined in to campaign for Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidate Khairul Azhari Saut, who is also the Bersatu Hulu Selangor acting division chief.

"As of today, we have yet to see any top Pas leaders campaigning.

"It is the third day of the campaigning period and so far only Bersatu Pas leaders (are present). The ones who tried to explain about their absence are only Bersatu leader Datuk Seri Radzi Jidin.

"It seems like the top Pas leaders are boycotting. I'm not sure, I wish them well," he said at a press conference after a working visit to the KKB National Information Dissemination Centre (Nadi).

Fahmi added that there is a possibility that Pas is boycotting as they could anticipate PN's loss.

"Maybe they saw issues. I have no comments on the candidate's qualifications. Maybe they could already foresee it (their loss)," he added.

On Saturday, during nomination day, Fahmi had raised questions about the presence of top Pas leaders in Perlis rather than in KKB.

Fahmi said the matter was quite 'interesting', but he was not sure what Pas leaders were trying to convey by not being in KKB, especially on Nomination Day for the by-election.

The Election Commission (EC) has fixed May 11 for the KKB by-election following the passing of its incumbent assemblyman Lee Kee Hiong.

The KKB by-election will see a four-corner battle between Pakatan Harapan's Pang Sock Tao, Perikatan Nasional's Khairul Azhari Saut, Hafizah Zainudin from Parti Rakyat Malaysia and Nyau Ke Xin who is an independent candidate.
