KUALA KUBU BAHARU: Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate Pang Sock Tao has refuted allegations of discord between DAP and PKR regarding the election machinery for the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election.

Pang clarified that she had received support from various PKR leaders throughout her campaign and had actively participated in events organised by PKR.

She emphasised that claims suggesting otherwise were unfounded.

Pang said this in response to claims that the PKR Selangor chapter was not channelling funds to the election machinery due to friction over the choice of candidate for the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election.

"The claim is not true. The Menteri Besar (of Selangor) Datuk Seri Amirudin Shaari has come on the ground about three to four times to help with the campaign. And yesterday, I even attended a forum organised by PKR, where it was attended by Nurul Izzah (PKR vice-president) and the women's wing (of PKR).

"In fact, many PKR leaders and members have come down to help with campaigning, hence, this claim is very untrue," she said during a meeting with the Chinese community here today.

It was previously reported that PKR's efforts in the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election campaign were delayed due to alleged funding shortages.

It was speculated that the state's chapter withheld funds for the election machinery due to disagreements over the selection of the PH candidate for the by-election.

Yesterday, PH's Kuala Kubu Baharu campaign coordinator Steven Sim denied claims that PKR was not helping Pang.

He said parties in the unity government had mobilised their election machinery to support Pang.

However, Pang affirmed that PH remained united in its efforts, with PKR leaders actively involved in supporting her candidacy.

The by-election, triggered by the passing of its DAP's three-term assemblywoman Lee Kee Hiong, will witness a four-corner fight with Perikatan Nasional's Khairul Azhari Saut, Parti Rakyat Malaysia's Hafizah Zainuddin, and independent candidate Nyau Ke Xin on May 11.

Kuala Kubu Baharu is a mixed seat, with Malays comprising 50 per cent of the electorate, followed by Chinese (30 per cent) and Indians (18 per cent).
