PUTRAJAYA: The Home Ministry will scrutinise the discrepancies highlighted in the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) report on the Foreign Workers Centralised Management System (FWCMS).

Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said that he has reviewed the PAC report and his officers are currently scrutinising the findings.

"As a ministry involved in managing foreign workers, we adhere to four key frameworks that I consistently emphasise. We are reducing migrant costs and expediting processes.

"We also have a duty to safeguard the welfare of foreign workers who leave their hometowns to work here, making it our responsibility, as well as ensuring employers' interests are protected due to their substantial investments and they deserve the best services.

"Aligned with these frameworks, any findings from the PAC, among others, are imperative for us to enhance our practices immediately.

"We are committed to striving for continuous improvement," he told reporters after attending the Larian Hari Polis 2024: Community Safety Run held here today.

Present was Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain.

In the PAC report, it was reported that there were two foreign worker management systems; the integrated foreign workers management system (ePPAx) and FWCMS, which are two systems based on the same single-window concept.

It resulted in overlapping functions between agencies in developing the foreign worker management system and wastage of public funds.

It was also reported that the FWCMS was being used for six years without a finalised contract.

Asked further if one of the systems would be scrapped, Saifuddin replied: "We will make a decision after we examine all matters thoroughly."
