KUALA LUMPUR: Passengers at Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 2 (KLIA2) have been forced to check-in for their flights manually following a worldwide IT disruption.

Several have taken to X (formerly Twitter) to share their experiences.

"You have to do manual check-ins at KLIA2," said user bellanatty, who also shared images of long lines at the check-in counters.

User SyahrulAzlan19 said that all AirAsia flight check-in systems at Terminal 2 are experiencing technical disruptions.

"If you have a flight soon, please come early to KLIA2," he said in his post.

"Those who do not have a boarding pass or want to drop luggage must queue at the counter.

"The kiosks are all offline.

"Never in my ten years of taking tour groups travelling have I seen crowds this big at KLIA Terminal 2," he added.

"There are just lines of people queuing at every check-in counter (both for domestic and international flights). So do come early if you have a flight."

Meanwhile, an image of long lines at check-in counters was shared by user Zen with the caption: "KLIA is down."

Replying to Zen's post, user Muhazsab said that he's being held at Kota Kinabalu Airport, with a picture of a check-in counter displaying a sign that says "system down."

"KLIA Terminal 2 is affected. I am currently stuck at KK airport," he said.

Earlier, Firefly, in a statement, said that they are facing an outage in their Navitaire booking system, adding that passengers would not be able to book flights, manage bookings, or perform online check-in.

AirAsia also said that its core reservation and check-in systems are impacted by Microsoft's cloud services outage affecting airlines worldwide.
