PUTRAJAYA: The Home Ministry is open to and accepts each comment or recommendation laid down by the recent Auditor General's Report 2/2024.

Its Minister, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, said the ministry is still reviewing the recommendations flagged in the report and will decide on the necessary actions.

"Each specific point mentioned in the AG report is currently under review and action by the ministry.

"So, it's like the ball is in the ministry's court to look back if the comments specifically involve any department and what kind of remarks they are.

"Therefore, we must be open-minded in taking steps to improve and provide explanations, that is the process," he said at a press conference after officiating the 102nd Immigration Day at Dataran Pahlawan here today.

He made this remark when asked about the overlapping functions amongst agencies in developing a foreign worker management system, which was seen as a waste of public funds in the AG report and the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) report.

They involved the Integrated Foreign Worker Management System (ePPAx) and the Foreign Workers Centralised Management System (FWCMS) under the Human Resources Ministry and the Home Ministry.

The report revealed that the FWCMS system was used for approximately six years without a finalised contract, clearly violating government regulations.

Pac chairman Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin reported weaknesses in the ID management control within the FWCMS system and referred the matter to the Royal Malaysia Police for investigation.
