KOTA BARU: Two government servants were arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) for allegedly accepting a bribe of about RM10,000 early this month.

Sources said the two, attached to the same government agency in Tanah Merah, were detained at the state MACC office in Lundang here. The sources said the two men were arrested at about 4:30pm after the MACC received a report from a man several days ago.

"In the report, the man, in his 60s, claimed that his heavy machinery, which was used to carry out illegal logging activities in a state forest reserve, was seized by one of the two government servants recently.

"He had paid the amount to the officer and another man for the release of his machinery," said the sources.

The sources said the two, aged 33 and 49, would be remanded soon.

Meanwhile, Kelantan MACC director Rosli Husain confirmed the arrest when contacted. He said the case is being investigated under Section 17(a) of the MACC Act 2009.
