KUALA LUMPUR: A Pas leader says he is not aware of any opposition leaders or members requesting to meet with top leaders of the unity government to discuss a possible cooperation in the next general election.

Pas deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said he had no information regarding any requests from opposition leaders to meet with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his deputy, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

"Pas has never authorised any of its leaders to engage in discussions (regarding possible cooperation in the next general election).

"I also do not have any details regarding members of the opposition bloc, if any, who have requested as such (to meet Zahid and Anwar)," he said in a brief reply.

Earlier today, Zahid revealed that there were requests from opposition representatives to meet him and Anwar.

Zahid, who is Barisan Nasional chairman and Umno president, however, said he was neither open to the idea of a cooperation nor to hold a meeting with the opposition representatives.

"I refuse to be bitten by the same snake in the same place twice," he said in his speech as he opened the Tebrau Umno division delegates' meeting here last night.

He reiterated that there were no official discussions held between Umno and Pas.

He said any meetings between Umno and Pas leaders, if they ever occurred, were done unofficially or in a personal capacity.

On July 23, Zahid denied that leaders in his party and Pas were holding discussions to collaborate in the 16th General Election (GE16).
