GEORGE TOWN: Umno members must be brave to reject leaders who lack ideas in efforts to win the people's trust and restore the party's lustre, Umno supreme council member Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz said.

He said, while there are already leaders who speak up for the people and help to restore Umno's 'shine',  many were still busy politicking and resorting to "cah keting (sabotage)".

He said the people out there were scrutinising Umno's every move.

"What the people want are leaders who care for them and address their issues.

"Instead, some of these leaders are more concerned about their personal agenda, about taking over the government and fighting among themselves.

"Enough is enough. I want to remind all members here today that they should not be afraid to reject such leaders.

"To restore Umno's shine and regain the people's trust, we need leaders who continuously come out with new ideas," he said when officiating the Umno Tanjung division annual delegates conference here today.

Present were state Umno chairman Datuk Musa Sheikh Fadzir and Umno Tanjung division chief Datuk Jeffri Salim.

Tengku Zafrul believed Umno still possessed strong roots.

"We just need to come together to build the shoots to rebuild our strength just like in the past.

"The signs are already there.

"Time is not on our side so we need to be brave to make drastic changes," he added.
