GUA MUSANG: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi announced that the government will establish a Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institution in Gua Musang.

He said the purpose of this new TVET institution is to provide training and job opportunities for youths who have attended school and grew up in the South Kelantan Development Authority (Kesedar) area in the district.

Ahmad Zahid, who is also the Rural and Regional Development Minister, highlighted that TVET courses have garnered significant attention nationwide, particularly across various industries.

"Among the 100 individuals who participated in TVET programmes, 98.7 per cent secured immediate employment opportunities in the industry.

"All of them are being 'booked' by the industry as TVET courses are closely aligned with employers' requirements nationwide.

He said this when launching the Development Plan for the Rural Development Centre in Sungai Asap here, today.

"Insya-Allah, if Kesedar chairman Datuk Zawawi Othman agrees, the TVET institution in Gua Musang will be offered free of charge to youths in the district," he said.

"The government is committed to driving more development programmes to enhance the well-being of the people in Gua Musang," he said.

In another development, Ahmad Zahid said Kesedar, under his ministry, will provide a gratuity of over RM2 million to 241 former participants of the South Kelantan Agropolitan Project.

Each participant will receive an accumulated payment of RM8,400 for the year 2022, with funds to be disbursed through the agency before Aug 3.

"I agree with the request from former participants of the South Kelantan Agropolitan Project to receive the full gratuity of RM8,400, including any outstanding balance," he said.

"However, this payment is contingent upon the former participants signing a termination letter, formally ending their involvement in the Agropolitan Project."

"This decision reflects the government's deep concern for the welfare of the former participants. We have carefully considered and resolved to proceed with the gratuity payments as outlined," he added.

Meanwhile, Ahmad Zahid said that his ministry has approved an allocation of more than RM40 million, to establish two Rural Development Centres (PPD), here.

He said that the centres are dedicated to residents in the south Kelantan region, with the concept of integrated settlement development, which is the development of rural housing in an organised manner, equipped with various basic facilities.

"What I am planning today is the PPD project in the area of Paloh, Gua Musang which has been allocated RM20.5 million.

"The second PPD has also been approved, and the Sungai Asap PPD will be allocated RM20.7 million," he said.
