DIEHARD backers of PAS are so engrossed in fanatism and extremism so much so that they would believe wholesale that they can go to heaven by rallying behind the Islamist party.

Hard to believe but a social media influencer divulged that the doctrine disseminated by PAS “really permeates deeply before eventually becomes the flesh and blood of their supporters”.

“People on the West Coast may not feel it so much but it’s commonplace for PAS people on the East Coast asking me, ‘don’t you feel guilty to the cross other than PAS?’ during GE15 (15th General Election),” revealed pro-Madani government social media influencer Sarah (@_asyahhhh).

Added Sarah in response to the Bersama ke Syurga tagline on the green t-shirt donned by PAS supporters during Saturday’s (Aug 3) Nenggiri state by-election nomination day:

“I was so angry at the person who asked that stupid question that I couldn’t speak, just stared at him and kept walking away. It’s stupid to think you can go to heaven by supporting a political party. Even worse are party leaders who keep on drumming such doctrine into the minds of their followers!”

Srah further drew a comparison between PAS followers who ‘blindly’ adhere to instruction of the party’s leaders to believers of the “flat earth” theory. “Once you started to believe, there’s no turning back,” she quipped in a reaction to a comment how it can be so sinful not to vote for PAS in an election.

One netizen observed that “non -East Coast Malays” are more rationale and are able to distinguish between politics and spirituality while another described the staunch PAS followers as “the lost tribe of the East Coast”.

Some sensible Muslims claimed that “various doctrines have slipped into PAS” in recent times given the party was known to have imparted “only genuine Islamic teaching during his younger days”.

Some netizens even suggested to Sarah the right way to respond to fanatic PAS followers that “Islam is my religion, not PAS’; only God can determine if one can enter heaven but never PAS”.

But as one netizen speaking from his personal experience put it, this is easier said than done as the indoctrination process started from small in the family and “not just limited to East Coast folks alone”. - Aug 8, 2024
