KOTA KINABALU: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is expected to open the Sabah International Blue Economy Conference 2024 (SIBEC 2024) on Oct 19.

Sabah Maju Jaya secretariat, in a statement, said that the event was supposed to be held from Sept 2 until Sept 4.

"It has been postponed to Oct 19. SIBEC 2024 will now take place over two days, Saturday and Sunday.

"The official opening of SIBEC 2024 will be performed by the Prime Minister," the statement said.

SIBEC 2024 will feature investor insights, plenary sessions, interactive forums, and special ambassador talks involving ambassadors and high commissioners from foreign countries, who will share their experiences, knowledge, and successes related to blue economy initiatives in their respective countries.

The conference will include 29 speakers and panelists from both local and international backgrounds, comprising industry players, blue economy practitioners, and academics.

The event is expected to attract 2,000 participants from around the world.

During SIBEC 2024, there will be a pavilion showcasing the latest initiatives, technologies, and innovations from various sectors of the Blue Economy, both domestic and international.
