KUALA LUMPUR: Strong cooperation between the private sector and government is needed to boost Malaysia's economy and achieve 'Asian Tiger' status.

Speaking at the Malaysia Industry Awards (Minda), Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said to progress politically and economically, industry players and the government must unite.

"For Malaysia to regain its glory as a successful nation not only politically but also economically, which will subsequently contribute to the peace in the country, I call everyone and the government to contribute ideas with the government.

He added that all parties had to be in alignment to progress.

The Minda awards tonight recognised 36 individuals for their achievements.

Also present was Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories) Dr Zaliha Mustafa and Deputy Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Datuk Ramanan Ramakrishnan.

Fadillah commended the organisers and urged winners to remain consistent, creative, and innovative.

He said that successful policies, such as those on solar energy, need industry support to be effective.

Fadillah added that in the Madani government's mission to be an Asian Tiger, they had created political stability - evident in them standing about two-thirds of the parliamentary term.

"The second step is to improve the economy and the country's fiscal standing and this is evident in our launching of the Ekonomi Madani, National Energy Transition Roadmap, and New Industrial Masterplan.

Fadillah highlighted the importance of the private sector focusing on sustainable development, Industry 4.0, artificial intelligence, and the green economy.

Organised by the Federation of Malaysian Business Associations (FMBA), Minda which started in 2023, honours outstanding entrepreneurs and their companies that also help build the country's economy.
