Muhyiddin gives 114 SDs to cops, says remarks 'factual'

KUALA LUMPUR: Perikatan Nasional chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has furnished related documents to the police, in connection with an investigation into his recent ceramah.

Muhyiddin, who is Bersatu president, in a statement, said among the documents include two letters from the Dewan Rakyat speaker, both dated Nov 20, 2022, containing orders from the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong requesting any member of the lower house who has the majority support to send the statutory declarations to Istana Negara, no later than Nov 21, 2022, before 2pm.

He also furnished a total of 114 statutory declarations from members of the Dewan Rakyat who trusted him to be appointed as the prime minister. These were submitted to Istana Negara on Nov 21 at 1.28pm, along with another statutory declaration submitted on Nov 22.

Also furnished to the police was the letter of acknowledgement from Colonel (Rtd) Datuk Nazim Mohd Alim, the senior private secretary to then Agong, dated Nov 21, confirming that he received the documents Muhyiddin said, he also furnished other related documents that could assist the police with their investigations.

"With my explanation to the police and the documents I handed over to them, I hope the police will investigate in a transparent, fair and just manner per the law.

"As an ordinary citizen, my loyalty to the constitutional monarch should not be questioned."

Earlier, the Pagoh member of parliment spent about an hour giving his statement to the police at his office at the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (Mida) here.
