KUALA LUMPUR: City Hall (DBKL) has been directed to extend its condolences to the family of the woman who fell into a sinkhole on Jalan Masjid India here on Friday (Aug 22).

"This morning, I instructed DBKL to express its condolences to the family of this young mother who has yet to be found. We express our sympathies," said Anwar on Sunday (Aug 25).

The search and rescue (SAR) operation for a female Indian national who fell into a sinkhole on Jalan Masjid India here entered its third day on Sunday following its suspension on Saturday (Aug 24) night due to a lack of new leads.

Speaking after attending the Malaysia Mosque Conference for Al- Aqsa and Palestine (MM4AP), Anwar also said that Putrajaya will work with other countries to bring in more Palestinians to Malaysia for medical treatment if there is a need to do so.

“If there is a need, we will discuss. For now we treat them first. It is still too early,” said Anwar after the event at the Federal Territory Mosque.

Anwar also appeared unfazed about those who criticised Putrajaya’s move to treat Palestinians in Malaysia.

“That is their political capital, they did not do any work. I think they are feeling resentful and that is why they came up with all sorts of insults,” added Anwar.

The move to treat injured 41 Palestinians in Malaysia has received mixed views from Malaysians, where some had backed it while others have criticised it by calling it a case of misplaced priorities.
