Malaysia Airlines confirms MH66 technical issues, passengers rescheduled for tonight

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia Airlines today (Sept 2) confirmed that flight MH66 bound for Incheon made a turnback shortly after the aircraft departed from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 1.

The national carrier, in a statement today, said flight MH66 made a precautionary return to Kuala Lumpur shortly after take-off due to a technical issue with the hydraulic system.

"The aircraft landed safely at KLIA Terminal 1 at 1.30 am local time," the statement said.

It added that all passengers have been accommodated at a hotel.

"The flight has been rescheduled to operate as MH66D departing on Sept 2 at 8.00pm local time.

"The return leg, MH67D has also been rescheduled to depart at 5.10am local Incheon time on Sept 3.

"The safety and well-being of our passengers and crew remain our highest priority," the statement said.

It was earlier reported that FlightRadar indicated that Malaysia flight MH66 departed from KLIA for Seoul in South Korea at 11.50pm last night.

According to the global flight tracker, the Airbus A330-323 turned back and landed safely at KLIA.

Meanwhile, netizens have taken to social media, including Facebook pages dedicated to supporters of Malaysia Airlines, to discuss what happened to flight MH66.

A user, believed to be a passenger on flight MH66, said they were provided with accommodation at hotels near the airport.

The user also praised the captain and crew of flight MH66 for their professionalism in handling the situation.
