KUALA LUMPUR: Bersatu stands firmly in support its president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, despite the Court of Appeal's decision to maintain four abuse of power charges linked to the Jana Wibawa programme during his tenure.

Its secretary-general Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin said that while the ruling was disappointing, it would not hinder the party's struggle but it would strengthen its solidarity and commitment to fight injustice.

"Our struggle will never be halted by this political prosecution; instead, it further strengthens our solidarity and resolve to fight against all forms of injustice.

"Bersatu stands firmly with Muhyiddin and is truly confident that Allah will assist those who are oppressed," Hamzah said in a statement.

He added that the party would consult with its legal team before deciding on the next step.

Earlier today, Muhyiddin, who is also a former prime minister, failed in his bid to reinstate the discharge and acquittal (DAA) order on four abuse of power charges linked to the Jana Wibawa programme during his time in office.

A five-member panel, led by Judge Datuk Azizah Nawawi, dismissed the 77-year-old's application for a review.

"We find that the earlier panel had the requisite authority to hear and adjudicate the matter (the panel's decision to allow the prosecution's appeal to reinstate the four charges against Muhyiddin). This application is dismissed," she said.
