LAUGHING her heart out, human activist and lawyer Siti Kasim has taken a swipe at PAS’ desperation for non-Malay/Muslim support which prompted the Islamist party to mull inter-racial marriage between its members and non-Malay/Muslim women.

“In your wildest dream would an Ah Moi (young/single Chinese girl) in short pants/skirt and sexy t-shirt fall for you just to add to your vote count … aren’t you aware that even your own wives don’t vote for PAS on their ballot papers,” she commented in a Facebook video.

“Stop dreaming … I already feel like puking when looking at PAS people … you think non-Malays in the likes of Chinese and Indian women have no brain or stupid like you?

“Suffice la you guys brainwash villagers and rural Malay folks to believe in voting for PAS is equivalent to be assured a place in heaven (Undi PAS masuk syurga) …  Just forget it (that PAS can repeat similar trick on non-Malay women) … The best joke today for me. Thank you, PAS for making me laugh.”

The Orang Asli advocate was responding to a proposal put forth by Selangor PAS Youth secretary Aubidullah Fahim Ibrahim at the PAS’ 65^th annual muktamar (equivalent of general assembly) in Jerantut, Pahang.

The delegate had wanted PAS youth wing members to commit to cross-ethnic or cross-cultural marriage.

“The reason is that when we marry someone from another ethnicity or culture, we would not win only one more vote but insyaAllah, we will be able to get 10 or even hundreds of votes from the non-Malays or non-Muslims,” Malaysiakini cited his remark which elicited laughter and noises from the floor.

Aubidullah further challenged PAS Youth chief Afnan Hamimi Taib Azamudden (who is already married but bear in mind Muslims are allowed to have up to four wives) and his central committee members to take up the suggestion.

But the proposal mooted by the Selangor PAS delegates does not seem to augur well even from men themselves with pro-Madani backer #Anwar_My_PMX (@AmenoWorld) describing it as “a crazy” idea.

“People marry out of love and affection. You’re mooting a marriage just for vote count. What a crazy fella!” berated the social media influencer.

Some drew similarity of such ‘radical’ view about the marriage institution to that of  the polygamy practise advocated by GISB (Global Ikhwan Group/GIobal Ikhwan Sdn Bhd) which made headlines after the police rescued 402 children following a raid on 20 children’s home/orphanage in Selangor and Negri Sembilan on Wednesday (Sept 11). - Sept 13, 2024
