KOTA KINABALU: Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) and Sabah Pakatan Harapan (PH) will be deciding on the direction of Sabah, said state Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.
"GRS and PH, plus the state government. We are the ones who will decide our direction in the government.
"We do not want others to decide our future here.
"As the government of the day, for me, we need to make the best choice for our state," he told the reporters after launching the Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah general assembly at Sabah International Convention Centre here.
Hajiji, who is Gagasan president and GRS chairman, was commenting on the recent meetup between Sabah PH and BN.
He described the unofficial meeting as something that was beyond his control, but "it could be positive".
He said GRS remains open in working with others.
Earlier during the event, Sabah Pakatan Harapan chief Datuk Seri Christina Liew, Sabah PKR chief Datuk Mustapha Sakmud, Sabah DAP chief Datuk Phoong Jin Zhe, Upko president Datuk Ewon Benedick and Sabah Amanah chief Lahirul Latigu were present.
Hajiji said political stability is important for Sabah to progress.
"Without stability and peace, whatever we wish for will only be left with just dreams, he said.
"Stability cannot be achieved if leaders are fighting with each other, and the people will also be dragged."
He said by October next year, the new government will be decided by the people through the ballot box.
"As the election approaches, we will continue to present this party and GRS to the people – because there is still much to be done to develop our beloved state and bring well-being to our cherished citizens.
"This government remains the best platform for us to strengthen the coalition to continue the legacy of our struggle."
