The FBM KLCI (-0.75%) fell in tandem with the regional peers, dipping below the 1,600 level following the steep decline on Wall Street overnight due to weaker-than-expected earnings and more hawkish interest rate hikes environment. Market breadth remained negative as the decliners hammered the advancers by 876-to-236 stocks. The plantation sector (+2.90%) was the sole gainer on the negative broader market, led by IOI (+30.0 sen), KLK (+100.0 sen), and SIMEPLT (+9.0 sen), while the energy sector (-2.87%) was the biggest loser with the Brent oil trading below the SMA50 zone.
