Konsortium Lebuhraya Utara-Timur (KL) Sdn Bhd (Kesturi) is planning expansion works on the 18km Duta-Ulu Kelang Expressway (DUKE) to ease traffic congestion. According to sources, the volume of traffic on the highway has already surpassed its daily projection of 110,000 vehicles and the management is taking a proactive approach to ease congestion, especially during peak hours. "Yes looking at the rush hour traffic congestion, I think there is the need to widen certain parts of this highway. For now, on the planning table is a proposal to expand the ramps at the congested Jalan Kuching/Selayang exit so that traffic can be dispersed more quickly..." said a source. It is learnt that Kesturi had already spoken to its sub-contractors, and the figure for the project could be up to RM200m. (Star)
